Last year we had a blip (lots of people away during the year) but this year we kept the run going.......How our team has developed since 1996/97!!!! Unbelievable!!!

Is this the team that you want to part of in the future?

CHECK OUT LIAM TANCOCK’S NEW WEBSITE

Liam Tancock has an exciting new website.

Check it out on www.liamtancock.com

This is what Liam had to say about Loughborough University:

“In 2004 I decided that if I wanted to further my career I needed to move. After weighing up the options there was only one choice LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY. With great coaching and a mixture of long & short course pools, I decided it was the place to be.

I would recommend it to anyone. What a place. It’s a prestigious university and has some of the best sporting facilities in the country. But best of all it’s situated on a campus. You are living & training with the best of the best.

Loughborough’s team spirit is also what attracted me here. You really are part of a successful team, and you can feel it.”

Catherine Pickthall hit a golden double by winning the 100m butterfly & 200m freestyle, while Hannah Allen clinched the 100m freestyle. Kate Almond & Katie Wills also secured titles during the two day meet; Kate taking the 50m backstroke & Katie the 200m backstroke.

In the Men’s events Ben Marsters struck gold in the 50m breaststroke & 50m backstroke with Ralph Anstis & Patrick Meggitt lifting the 100m & 200m butterfly titles respectively.

Visitors

We are currently hosting Melanie Nocher (Ireland) and Jennifer Kabalan (Lebanon, pictured right) in our programme. Both swimmers are enjoying the work they are doing with the Loughborough Team and are benefitting from our outstanding hospitality and team spirit.

They are definitely gaining from the exposure to the Loughborough Sunshine! J

Speedo League

Whilst we don’t compete in the Speedo League a number of our swimmers return to their home clubs to represent them in this competition. It was great to be able to support the teams in the finals and we congratulate Plymouth (Claudia Coleman’s team) on a fine victory.

Well Done!

Lizzie Simmonds

Olympian, British Record Holder and World Silver medallist, Lizzie Simmonds, is now based in Loughborough and is part of our team. We welcome Lizzie on board the Loughborough Fast Swimming Train and I’m sure we can look forward to some great swimming over the coming months/years.

Whooshhhhh!

Florida Bound

Rebecca Shaw (alias Beckswee!) is off to Florida to work on the Pinecrest Swim Camp. Having recently graduated in Criminology, she will work and train in Ft Lauderdale for the next 6 weeks; returning for Summer Nationals.

Have fun in the sun!!

Rebecca Adlington/Jessica Sylvester

We are pleased to welcome Rebecca Adlington/Jessica Sylvester and Coach Bill Furniss to our Pool of Dreams. They now train here 3 times per week; getting some extra long course work in as the countdown to Beijing continues. As always Loughborough Swimming wants to assist anyone in their pursuit of excellence.

Good Luck to Rebecca, Jess and Bill.

Let’s Go!

London to Paris

Lewis was a key member of the Lougborough Swim team for a number of years and competed successfully at National level. He graduated in 2007

The charity bike ride starts in London and passes through the countryside in East Sussex and on to the port of New Haven. Then it's a hop on the ferry and a ride through old market towns, beautiful rivers and historic battlegrounds as crowds of locals cheer you on. The last stop is Paris, where the tour finishes by the Eiffel Tower.

The charity I am supporting is richard house. www.richardhouse.org.uk/

Richard House has been providing care and support for life-limited and life-threatened children and their families since the year 2000. We accompany them during the child or young person’s journey through life to death, creating positive experiences along the way which become good memories for the future.

I need to raise a £1000 to hit my target!!
